Bromeliads and Cypress - Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve

This afternoon I joined a workshop led by James Shadle (www.wildflorida.net) as they explored part of Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve. This is an absolutely gorgeous area that is full of bromeliads and orchids. This one area has the highest density of orchid species of anywhere on the planet. We did not see any orchids on this trip but I am planning on returning many times in the upcoming months.
Photography was difficult due to the bright sunlight and deep dark shadows but we did our best. I can't wait to photograph in this swamp with my 4x5 camera on a heavy overcast day.
