Indigo Bunting - Key West Botanical Gardens, Stock Island

I have been wanting to travel to the Dry Tortugas during spring migration for a very long time and I am now finally on my way. Today I travelled down the Keys to Key West to meet my boat and get to know the group I am going with. We leave early tomorrow morning to head over and I can't wait. Today's trip through the keys was spectacular and I hope it is an indication of what I can expect from this trip. I found 15+ Warbler species and three life birds. The highlights for the day were a Bay-breasted Warbler and seven adult Dickcissels at the Key West Botanical Gardens. I also found three Bobolinks, a Black-whiskered Vireo, and numerous Cape May Warblers along Card Sound Road in Key Largo. If the rest of this week is as good as today then it is going to be a once in a life time experience.

Interesting Sightings

Besides the above birds, I also found and photographed a Great-crested or Brown-crested Flycatcher. The ID is just too close to call without hearing the bird call which it didn't.

Other Interesting Observations:

I had my first Summer Tanager of the year at the Botanical Gardens as well as 11 warbler species there.
