Red-shouldered Hawk - Flamingo, Everglades National Park (Yesterday)

This image is another one from the series I took yesterday. Here the Red-shouldered Hawk is covering the fish that it just won from the Osprey as the Osprey is circling overhead.
Today I spent the morning trying to photograph a scene that I have scouted out but the clouds prevented the light from lighting the scene like I wanted. The rest of the morning was spent scouting for other compositions along Highway 9336 in the park. I am really starting to enjoy the landscape photography even though it is much slower and more dependent on the weather. The afternoon was difficult due to an increasing wind that prevented me from capturing a scene that I had discovered earlier in the morning. As I am spending more time working with landscapes and less with birds the weblog may have fewer images and I apologize. I will try to post older images that I have not posted elsewhere.

Interesting Sightings

I found a Barred Owl pair with one chick that live in the dwarf cypress forest along the road. This morning the adult was sitting in a perfect perch just feet from the road but flew when I stopped to photograph him.

Other Interesting Observations:

  None.
