Pineland Allamanda - Long Pine Key, Everglades National Park

After four days without picking up my camera I headed back out today for a great photo session. I spent the morning and afternoon at Long Pine Key exploring the Rocky Pinelands as I have spent very little time in that area. I was able to photograph a number of plants and flowers that are unique to the pinelands ecosystem. Above is one of these flowers. It is a Pineland Allamanda and it opens into a very beautiful yellow flower. I am headed back to the Long Pine Key area to continue photographing this interesting community.

Interesting Sightings

I saw my first Blackpoll Warbler of the season in the Long Pine Key Campground.

Other Interesting Observations:

Also in the campground I found a number of male Painted Buntings. I was thrilled to see these spectacularly colored birds because I have seen very few males since I have been down here.
