Pileated Woodpecker in Nesting Cavity - Flamingo, Everglades National Park

Yesterday I spotted a Pileated Woodpecker in a nesting cavity. This afternoon I returned to the tree and spent several hours watching the female clean out the nesting cavity. I hope to monitor this nest over the next few months and get photographs of chicks as well. Afterwards I headed over to the marina and photographed the crocodiles in nice warm light.

Interesting Sightings

  None.

Other Interesting Observations:

Found the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher at Mrazek Pond again today.
