Common Moorhens and American Coot - Eco Pond, Everglades National Park

This morning I spent some time photographing at Eco Pond. It was a gorgeous morning and shortly after sunrise the far side of the lake lit up with this gorgeous warm light. I have seen these three birds, two Common Moorhens and an American Coot, that have been hanging out together for the past few days. While isolating these birds against the beautiful reflections the middle bird flapped its wings for just a moment allowing me to capture a single frame. This was the highlight of my morning.

Interesting Sightings

A number of Orchard Orioles were at Eco Pond this morning. These were the first orioles I have seen in the park since I have been here.

Other Interesting Observations:

As we were photographing Ibis and Herons flying in and out of the pond, a marsh rabbit hopped out just below us along the edge of the trail. This rabbit looked just like any other Marsh Rabbit except instead of being brown it was jet black. I was thrilled to get a few images of the blacck rabbit eating a bright green leaf. I will post them in the near future.
