Since yesterday I did not find what I was looking for along the Christian Point Trail, sunrise found me along the Rowdy Bend Trail among the Silver Buttonwood trees that form the area know as the Buttonwood Embankment. I find this area to be very beautiful. The buttonwoods have multiple trunks that are covered in deeply grooved bark. These deep grooves allow for a large number of bromeliads, namely Stiff-leafed Wild Pine and others, to cling to these trunks. I was able to make some absolutely beautiful images with my 4x5 camera. I am sorry that I can't post these until I get them developed in Orlando and then scanned and that could be several weeks.
In the evening, I spent time in the coastal prairie just west of Flamingo. I have photographed here before and returned to take just a few more photographs. I ended up exploring the opposite side of the prairie than I normally hike and found a mangrove forest that was very interesting. The area was sporadically covered with Red Mangroves and Black Mangroves that were surrounded by a very dry white mud that had cracked and dried. Again, I photographed with my 4x5 and therefore can't post any photos of the area.

Interesting Sightings

  None.

Other Interesting Observations:

There were a lot of tracks in the coastal prairie along the trail I was on. I belive most of them were small mammals such as Marsh Rabbits and various mice. There were also some bird tracks throughout the dried mud of the mangroves.
