Oceanblue Morning-Glory - Anhinga Trail, Royal Palm

This morning I returned to Anhinga Trail to try and photograph the baby Anhingas that we saw last night but the light was wrong and the birds were asleep the whole time I was there. Instead, I worked my way around the trail as usual and made some images that I was happy with. I ran in to town for a quick trip to the store and then headed back to Anhinga Trail with a stop off at Canal C111 to check on the Vermillion Flycatcher who was there as always and then stopped at Lucky Hammock to do some birding. It was my first visit to Lucky Hammock and was rather uneventful except for stepping in a lot of poison ivy while wearing sandals. I guess tomorrow we will see if I actually am immune like I think I am. Evening at Anhinga was uneventful except for the opportunity to talk with another photographer, Mike Turco, who has worked for National Geographic, World Wildlife Federation, and many other organizations. The highlight of the day for me was the hour that we spent talking.

Interesting Sightings

I saw the "Pink Ibis" once again this evening and this time he perched at the top of one of the willows to roost. I was able to get a few very low quality images as it was almost dark but they show the bird and should help some other birders help me in figuring out if it is a White x Scarlet Ibis hybrid like I think.

Other Interesting Observations:

  None.
