This evening I was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph this very cooperative Painted Bunting. As she fed on the seeds of the flowers (Devil's Needles) you see on the right, she sat still and for the most part on very clean and aesthetic perches. I also love the varied shades of green in this image.
This morning I photographed at Anhinga Trail and was shocked at the number of people that were there. At one point I was at the center of five photographers all with long lenses as we were photographing an immature and an adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron. As much as I could I tried to get away from the crowds. There is nothing more unnerving for me then to stand in the "wilderness" photographing alongside ten other photographers photographing the exact same thing. After a while, I met up with Mike Turco who I had met a week ago and he and I explored the area together and finally set up camp in one spot in order to photograph a not very cooperative Purple Gallinule. Because the bird was not often in the open we had the area to ourselves for the most part. Despite being so crowded I was able to walk away from the morning with a few images with which I was pleaseds.
