Northern Cardinal - Eco Pond, Everglades National Park

Today was consumed by administrative tasks around the trailer, but I was able to spend a few minutes this evening at Eco Pond. I walked around the pond very slowly stopping frequently to try and let the wildlife come to me rather than chasing after things. It was very relaxing and I was able to walk away with an image of a female Northern Cardinal, a species which I have never photographed. I absolutely love the background and perch and the fact that the bird opened its beak was a bonus. Enjoy.

Interesting Sightings

  None

Other Interesting Observations:

I spent a few minutes watching a Red-shouldered Hawk that flew from a tree and landed only a few feet from a couple that were walking around the pond. The hawk then began looking for something in the grass and actually kept moving towards the couple who kept backing off. The hawk was amazingly bold and surprised all of us there. After a while it finally flew off across the pond.
