Florida Butterfly Orchid - Anhinga Trial, Everglades National Park

This morning I got back out with my camera one last time. A few weeks back I had found a number of buttefly orchids that finally had some buds on them. I checked back a few days ago and a number of them were in bloom. These small orchids are the most abundant in the state but are also very beautiful. While walking Anhinga Trail I found probably two dozen plants that were in bloom and more that were either budding or simply not flowering this year. In the cypress dome where I have photographed the four Cowhorn Orchids there are hundreds of these plants but they were not blooming last time I was in there.
