Finally, we got some wonderful weather! This afternoon I was headed out to canoe to Noble Hammock but even with all the rain, the water level still wasn't high enough for me to put in my canoe. So, I headed up to the pinelands just to see what I could do since I didn't have anything else in mind. On my way up to Research Road I passed through a lot of smoke and eventually found the source, this brush fire. Quickly I headed out across the prairie to photograph the flames. I was surprised at the fire but wet season fires are common and natural. I am not sure if this was a controlled burn or a naturally caused fire but it seemed to be burning slowly despite the sometimes swirling wind. This was one of my favorite images of the day.
