Male Anhinga Portrait - Anhinga Trail, Royal Palm

This morning and evening I photographed at Anhinga Trail while spending the midday hours by making a trip into town. My goal for the day was to photograph the male and female Anhingas in their spectacular breeding plumage. I was moderately successful but still don't have the image I have envisioned. Regardless, both morning and evening presented a number of spectacular opportunities and I came away with a number of images that I am pleased with, the one above being an example.

Interesting Sightings

I observed a Myriarchus flycatcher several different times throughout the day at Anhinga Trail. I was able to photograph it and hope to recieve some help identifying it as soon as I get my email up and running later this week. The Vermillion Flycatcher also continues to be found at the pump station at Canal C-111 just before the entrance to the park.

Other Interesting Observations:

I was able to observe a Common Yellowthroat hunting on spadderdock just before sunrise. I had never observed this behavior before but thoroughly enjoyed watching him hop from leaf to leaf searching for insects.
