Red-shouldered Hawk Silhouette - Eco Pond, Flamingo (yesterday)
          This morning I hiked the Bayshore Loop part of the Coastal Prairie Trail which I plan to hike in the next few weeks.  The trail travels along Florida Bay through a Mangrove and Silver Buttonwood forest before returning to the Coastal Prairie Trail. This trail travels eight miles west through the coastal prairie that lines much of the coast stretching from just east of Flamingo all the way west to Cape Sable.


Interesting Sightings

  I saw a flock of White Pelicans that was soaring above us along the trail. Their majestic flight was a thrill to watch. The Bayshore Loop also had a number of spiders along the trail that will be interesting to return to and photograph.
